OMA is seeking a Communications Intern to join its New York studio, starting immediately. The Communications Intern will be an active member of the Communications and Business Development team responsible for communicating OMA New York’s identity, ethos, and diverse body of work, from architectural projects - Quebec National Museum of Art, Tiffany Landmark, the Buffalo AKG Art Museum, POST Houston, and 11th Street Bridge Park - to fashion exhibitions, artist collaborations, and scenography design.

The successful candidate will be responsible for press communication, content production for internal and external channels and collateral such as presentations and booklets, and ongoing research to craft project narratives and to assist in Partner and Associate lectures.

This is a full-time position in which you will be working closely and collaboratively with the Communications Manager, the OMA New York Partners, as well as the Business Development and Operations teams in a dynamic environment.

Day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Respond to and coordinate media inquiries, lecture, exhibition, and publication requests
  • Monitor and archive press coverage and compile weekly overviews
  • Prepare press materials including project narratives, press releases, images, and drawings
  • Maintain OMA New York’s project archive, presentation materials, and publication libraries
  • Maintain OMA New York’s online presence, creating content for the website, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Provide support as representative of the firm at project openings and tours
  • Maintain OMA New York’s contact databases
  • Assist in research and preparation for lectures, publications, and client presentations
  • Actively participate in the diverse communications process, developing new ideas and methods in graphics, text, bookmaking/publications, and exhibitions

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Architecture/Urban Planning, Design, Art/Art History, Communications/Marketing, or related fields
  • Professional Architecture/Design, Communications/Marketing, or Writing/Editing experience is preferred
  • Interest in and knowledge of architecture, urbanism, design, fashion, and the arts
  • Strong communication in verbal and written English (Japanese is a plus)
  • Writing, editing, and proof-reading skills
  • Aptitude in graphic, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, primarily InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop is a plus
  • Skills in video production/editing and proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro are a plus
  • Self-starter who can work both independently and within a team, and enjoys contributing new ideas
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and hands-on

Pay: Gross annual pay of $ 35,568 [gross monthly pay of $ 2,964].
