OMA New York is looking for an experienced Interior Architectural Designer with a proven track record in designing, detailing and specifying FFE (Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment) for a diverse range of spaces, including public, commercial, hospitality and residential areas. 

In this role, you will work on projects in all phases, from initial conception through to the final design and construction phases. We are seeking candidates who illustrate exceptional design sensibility in their work, have robust technical and communication skills and can operate at the highest level.

The Interior Architectural Designer will collaborate closely with Project Leaders and design teams to establish and develop the design of interior projects and produce, coordinate and administer the technical documentation and supervision for their realization. They may also lead teams for specific aspects of projects, in accordance with project needs and prior experience.

Demonstrated Experience:

  • Developing designs based on strong concepts in consultation with the client and establishing final briefs;
  • Leading projects through all phases, from programming, concept development, documentation through to construction;
  • Considering materials and costs within predetermined budgets;
  • Producing 'sample' or 'mood' boards, and assembling research materials for client presentations;
  • Sourcing products such as fittings, fixtures, furniture, lighting, finishes and equipment, whilst also putting together and presenting samples to clients;
  • Preparing detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes;
  • Keeping up to date with emerging trends and advancements in the art and design industry.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design and/or Interior Architecture with a minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience;
  • Strong conceptual, graphic, and design skills illustrated in a comprehensive portfolio;
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite;
  • Experience working on complex, large-scale design projects in all phases;
  • Confidence working collaboratively in a dynamic, international environment;
  • Fluent in English. 

Preferred:

  • Strong rendering skills, particularly in V-Ray and/or Enscape;
  • Knowledge and experience working on BIM/Revit projects;
  • Experience working in construction documentation phases; 
  • Licensed to practice architecture in the US or actively pursuing getting licensed;
  • Proficiency in additional languages, notably Japanese and/ or Spanish.
